Reflection and Takeaway

While planning for this event, I had a lot of fun working with different people from different backgrounds and organization. Because we all had the same goals in mind, working with everyone was very easy and rewarding. We each had different ways to implement our roles, however, we all worked extremely hard to put on this event. I realized that when we are all on the same page, planning an event and communication becomes much easier because we don't have to micromanage each other, of course this is not the case with every team. I learned that communication is still very much important when planning Fusion Fiesta because at the very last minute, we had to change our venue due to weather conditions. I had to react fast upon receiving the news to post on social media and send out bulk emails.

Through this event, I also realized that volunteers are there for a reason. There were times when I started doing things myself because there seemed to be a shortage in volunteers or I wanted volunteers to enjoy the event too, but I need to delegate responsibility to them because they are there to help. As part of the planning committee I need to manage the event!
