APC (Asian Presidents' Council) Dodgeball Charity Event

My contributions to the success of the event

• Served as Co-Director of Programming

Purpose of the Event

To provide a stress-relief event through dodgeball as well as give back to community by donating all proceeds to the winner's preferred charity.

Reflection and Takeaway

I think this was a very well organized event because our evaluations showed that everyone enjoyed the event. Our goals for the event were all met in that students relieved some stress in the event and we donated all proceeds to the the winner's preferred charity event. A brief orientation on safety and rules before the event really helped the event go smoothly as well.

A few things to reflect on was that people submitted their RSVP for the event very last minute and so it was a bit difficult to calculate how much pizza we needed to provide during the players orientation before the event. Working with the REC center on the day of the event was also a bit hectic because they were supposed to set up our bleachers and restrict people from going into our court 15 min before the event started, but they were unable to do that. I had to go talk to some employees multiple times before they were able to help us. A few things for the future if I had to plan something like this again is to make sure to give instructions to my event coordinator with the REC beforehand and to also market the event a bit more in advanced to make sure people RSVP sooner. Though these are easy fixes, these situations can definitely be improved in the future for a more smooth event.
